Holy Week

Fasting on Good Friday

Fasting on Good Friday is an obligatory day of universal fast and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year and have not yet reached their 60th year. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence from meat is obligatory for all who have reached their 14th year.

If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday night) as the "paschal fast" to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.

Through our works of prayer, fasting, and abstinence, let us heed the prophet Joel's exhortation to return to God with our whole heart (2:12).

Epic StudyMonday Night Bible Study

Monday, April 16 @ 7PM

Journey through the history of Catholicism from 313 - 499 AD! This 5 week series takes you through the major people, places and events that make up the history of the Catholic Church during this period in history referred to as Conversion and Councils. With an unlikely beginning in a remote outpost of the Roman empire, the Catholic Church now claims over a billion living members. The persecutions, martyrdoms, conquests, and triumphs all came together to shape Western civilization as we know it today. If we know our past, and how we fit into the story, we will be better prepared to face whatever may come in the future. You will see the glory of the Church founded by Christ and understand where you fit into this Epic story. Cost is $40 for the workbook, pizza and drinks for 5 weeks.

Holy/Happy Hour

Tuesday, April 17 - 6pm

Holy Hour at St. Peter's starts at 6pm with adoration and confessions. Evening prayer starts at 6:40pm. Try to snatch up a prayer paper/booklet at the back of the church so you can follow along. Afterwards, at 7pm, we will meet on the steps outside of the church and walk over to Tortilla Coast (400 1ST ST SE) together (with Father Riffle!) for some drinks and fellowship. If you can't make it over in time for Holy Hour, just meet at T-Coast for the Happy Hour portion of the evening!
