We have a funeral register covering September 1821 to March 2, 1836; the first burials in the St. Peter's cemetery were December 13, 1825.
We have a record of bodies laid in the vault of the cemetery before burial that runs from December 12, 1844 to Sept 3, 1861.

Birth and death certificates from the District of Columbia are available from August 1874 to present. Birth certificates can be requested by the registrant, an immediate nuclear family member, a legal guardian, or a legal representative. Birth and death records become public after 100 years have elapsed from the date of birth and 50 years have elapsed from the date of death. Aunts, uncles, grandparents, and other relatives not part of the immediate family cannot obtain a birth or death certificate from Vital Records prior to the record becoming open to the public.

As of March 2002, the costs were as follows:
Birth: $18 per copy of original long-form certificate, $12 per computer short-form certificate
Death: $12 per death certificate. Make check or money order payable to the DC Treasurer.
