In the Gospel according to Matthew (16:18), Jesus tells Peter, “You are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church.” For nearly 200 years, St. Peter’s on Capitol Hill has been a rock of the Catholic faith in our nation’s capital.  In addition, our school has provided the bedrock of academic excellence and faith formation to many thousands of young people over 150 years.

As we look forward to celebrating our Bicentennial, we face exciting new opportunities to advance our shared mission. Based on input from parishioners, our Pastoral Council developed specific plans to enhance our ministry and the life of our faith community. At the same time, major plans are underway to renew and enhance our facilities at the parish and the school. Informed by our feasibility study, we launched the On This Rock: Building Faith capital campaign with a base goal of $2,500,000 and a challenge goal of $3,000,000.

I am inviting you along with every St. Peter’s parishioner to pray about and determine a pledge that represents your best sacrifice – a level of giving that is meaningful and brings you joy. In doing so, know that you will be a blessing to many people, and you too be blessed in your faithful generosity.

Your campaign pledge can be made outright or extended over as many as five years.  For example, a gift of $2,000 per year would amount to a total of $10,000 over a five-year period; and a $1,000 per year gift would amount to a $5,000 pledge. Other ways to give also include securities, real estate, insurance or estate gifts.  Our team can help you make the greatest gift possible for you.
