Father Dan and Father Nicholas will not text you asking to make gift card purchases or asking for copies of the parish directory. If you receive a text or email from a gmail.com account claiming to be from Father Dan (or Rev. Daniel B. Carson) or Father Nicholas, please immediately delete it and block the sender. Do not reply “STOP” even if the text instructs you to. Never click a link in the text or reply to the message.
If you are unsure if a message claiming to be from Father Dan or Father Nicholas is legitimate, please call the rectory at 202-547-1430.
Be alert to some red flags in texts and emails like this:
* A manufactured sense of urgency on behalf of a worthy cause
* The sender requests that you do not call back, claiming to be in a meeting or unavailable to talk
* The sender uses a generic greeting like “Hi!” instead of addressing you by name
