Dear parishioners & visitors,

The Gospel today is the story of the mustard seed. One of the smallest seeds there is, and this small seed grows to be one of the biggest and strongest plants. Each of us is that mustard seed. And each of us are capable of having the strength that it can produce when it is allowed to grow. Jesus warns us that we also have many weeds in our lives. Weeds that can choke us and make growth difficult. And these weeds may be around us as we grow up, even if we may not see them. But, as we mature and get older, we can start to recognize our weeds that have grown with us. We start to recognize how these weeds can start to choke out the joy in our lives and keep us from growing as a life ought to grow. Jesus tells us that we need to recognize what are the weeds in our lives and then seek to tie them up in bundles and burn them from our lives. Burn them so the good part of us grows into who we are meant to be in the life God has given to each of us. Today, I ask you to reflect on ‘what are the weeds in your life?’ What do you need to do so that you can see the strength of your faith that you have within you to get rid of the weeds, get rid of the hurts in your life, in order to heal and know that you are strong because you are a beloved child of God.
