Dear parishioners & visitors,

In the Gospel, the yes – no dilemma we hear about can apply to our daily life. We must realize how often there is this yes and no question in our lives as we face many daily choices between what we know very well to be our duty before God, and what is of our own convenience in one way or another. To ‘go to the vineyard’ means, for each of us, to do what we know is the right thing to do because of our faith and what Jesus has taught us. When we say “Yes” to our conscience we should then carry out that “Yes” being true to our God and our faith. Let us continually discern God’s will in our lives, say “Yes” to what He asks of us, and then live out the “Yes” to be the authentic disciple we are meant to be. I share with you a prayer about saying yes to God’s will:

O God, who in Your mercy invited Mary to say “Yes” to the mystery of the Incarnation, grant me the courage to respond with the same trust and openness to Your will. As I walk this day, help me to listen closely to Your voice, to discern Your plan, and to say “Yes” with a heart that is willing, humble, and faithful. Remove from me the fear that clouds my judgment, and the doubt that weakens my trust. Let my “Yes” be a living act of love, not just a word, and let it be a sign of my cooperation with Your divine work in my life. Mary, Mother of the Word, intercede for me that I may always be ready to receive and live out what You, my God, call me to do. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.
