Dear parishioners & visitors,
In the hundreds of years before Jesus, in numerous accounts in the Old Testament, time and time again the people of faith lose sight of God in their lives and go in the wrong direction. The same can be true today. How often might we get caught up in spending too much time on things of this world, whether it’s work, school, events, etc., and put God as a lower priority. Even as a priest, I found myself last week trying to handle a busy week and saw my prayer life take a lower priority. Today’s Gospel is a good reminder that as disciples we are called to be solidly planted in God’s vineyard and to bring others to the vineyard. To do this, we need to keep focused on the right priorities. We do this by having a good prayer life. Prayers take us beyond the physical world around us, as well as help us navigate through this world. Prayers help lead us in the life God intends for His beloved children. Saint Paul says, “Brothers and sisters: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Yours in Christ,
Father Dan
