Dear Saint Peter’s Parishioners,
Normally this column would be written by Father Dan, but with his procedure taking place this task falls to your Parochial Vicar. I am honored to write to you on behalf of Father Dan as he continues recovering from his surgery. We received confirmation from his sister Diane that everything went smoothly and that he is currently resting this week in New York and will return to the DC area to continue his recovery away from the parish. I know that he has been so appreciative of your prayers and welcomes them for his swift healing and restoration!
National Vocation Awareness Week
In other news, this week marks National Vocations Awareness Week which provides us with the opportunity to give thanks for the many men and women who have answered the call to follow Jesus in a radical and total way. Not only do we rejoice in those who have already accepted the calling and serve us so well, but we also encourage the next generation of young men to strive for the priesthood and for young men and women to discern the religious and consecrated lives. So many of us cannot image our lives of faith without the tireless men and women who serve Jesus Christ and His Church inspiring us and bringing us closer to the Trinity. Take advantage of this week by offering a special prayer for our current clergy and religious and for those who are considering taking this leap! May our prayers support all those who wish to follow Jesus!
